I’m Raj, it’s nice to meet you
Setting out my stall for the year ahead
Happy new year.
This post is going to be both a “coming out" of sorts and also a "pull up a chair and come on in" invitation. Or, at least I think that’s what it’ll be.
Let’s see what happens.
My name is Jasraj
~ for a long time I called myself Raj, as folks couldn't pronounce Jasraj, and Raj sounded too "Indian" and not cool. I'm embracing my Raj.
I'm a x2 college dropout
~ I was not a good Indian kid. I dropped out not just once, but twice. Yup, it took me a little bit to get my bloom on.
I've been writing as an adult for nearly 10 years
~ Writing has been my therapy. I started journalling 10 years ago and I haven't looked back.
I also like to share my writing online, and I've been doing that ever since I left my corporate job nearly 10 years ago
~ I had NO idea what I was doing. How to blog, what I was going to do with my life. Nada. Nothing.
I thank the Lord that I showed up and started writing not knowing where it'd take me, because it's been life hanging.
How writing has changed my life
~ Well, it's helped regulate my nervous system and brain I can tell you that much. (Science shows that writing does the same thing to the brain as meditation does. God bless those theta waves)
You keep mentioning God, Jas. What's up with that?
~ Nothing major. Just that I feel that the big man upstairs literally saved my life and I wouldn't be here because of him. That's a story for another day but, in short, at my worst, some kind of outside force intervened and kept me here. I believe that outside force was God.
(Cue the music in my ears as I type these words: Just What I Am / "I'm just what you made, God" 🎶 — Kid Cudi + King Chip)
I've made around $25000 from blogging
Thru sharing my writing, and helping others 1:1. Little old me. This guy.
He has made 25000 dollars through writing, sharing audio, and getting on zoom calls.
It's the internet an amazing thing?
Yes, yes it is.
But boy do we need to manage how we use it.
Lord knows my ADHD brain needs that.
My biggest flaw
I judge others instead of looking at myself.
I need to remember this quote this year. Seriously, someone please ram it down my throat. I can be a c*cky little b*stard at the best of times.
What I'm working on this year
Helping folks with ADHD do their best work thru building remote-businesses where they serve their ideal clients
Mhm, I want to help others live their dreams by doing their best work.
I didn't mention I have a Masters in Positive Psychology despite dropping out of college and not having a bachelors.
~ Again, story for another time.
Seriously I can't wait to share more words with you and bring you along from the ride…
I'm a Gemini
And I like Kanye. His music. His music.
He’s flawed, sure, like every other person on this earth. I still can’t help being inspired by him and his music. Heck, I like Chris Brown, too (have even you heard Beautiful People? 🎶)
I would have voted for Trump.
What can I say, I'm a recovering idealist. I just pray that we're less divided and families come together again. Family members stopped talking to one another because of... differing views? Are you serious right now? Seriously, someone pls explain this to me. It utterly baffles me.
that main picture you see is me on New Year’s Day in Ponce Inlet, Florida, after a morning dip in the Atlantic Ocean. It was a beautiful time.
From my crazy stupid heart* to yours,
Raj
*PS. Yes, I'm a fan of both Ryan Gosling and Steve Carrell. I kinda see myself as a combination of both.
PPS. My imperfect book, THE ADHD CREATOR, is available for you to read + download in all its crazy glory. Get the PDF by registering here. See ya next week. Can't wait to write to you again. Peace x
